Mangalore - St. Aloysius College: This is the college chapel. Centrally located in this huge campus, it is most famous for the magnificent paintings that cover virtually every inch of the altar, walls, pillars and even (believe it or not ) the ceiling !. These paintings were the work of Br. Antonio Moscheni s.j. (1854-1905) during the period 1899-1900, whose painstaking efforts are clearly visible in the accuracy that each painting exhibits.

Did you know? This chapel very closely resembles the world-famous Sistine Chapel situated in Rome.

 

 

 
Mangalore: Kadri Temple - dating back to about 1068 A.D. with its nine tanks, its square temple, nestling at the foot of the highest hill. There are some stone caves on top of the hill, which are known as the caves of the Pandavas.
 
 
Mangalore: Dharmasthala Temple is an outstanding example of religious tolerance, as it welcomes worshippers of all religions. It is unique in the fact that it has a Jain administration, while all the rituals are performed by Hindu priests. The place attracts around 10,000 pilgrims every day. Hassan: Shravanabelagola - The Statue of the Jain saint Gommateshwara (AD 981)carved out of a mountain, said to be one of the tallest and most graceful statues in the world.

Air : Goa's international airport is 29 km from Panjim at Dabolim.

Rail : Goa has two main stations at Margao and Vasco da Gama. The 760 km long Konkan Railway project between Mangalore (Karnataka) and Mumbai has given a major boost to train travel to Goa

The Churches of Old Goa : There are many churches dating back four centuries, including the famous Basilica of St Francis which houses the remains of the missionary.
 
Beaches : Mythology says that Goa was the celestial play ground of the voluptuous Gods. As if to prove this, the state has 40 beaches. The most famous are the Calangute and Anjuna beaches. If you are looking to get away from the madding crowd, head for Keri, Arambol, Mandrem and Morji. One of the few rocky beaches in Goa, Quegdevelim is a shell collector's paradise.
 
Forts : Aguada & Candolim. The fort was built by the Portuguese in 1612 and is now in ruins which are visiting. Particularly the good old light house gives an interesting view of the nearby area.
 
The best time to visit Goa : is during the months of October to April, when tempe-ratures range between 21 and 32 C
